Clearances Required for Volunteers
The Riverside Junior Vikings prioritize your child’s safety! By strictly following Pennsylvania’s clearance policies, we ensure all our volunteers and staff are thoroughly vetted. This adherence not only complies with the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) and the “KeepKidsSafe” initiative but also fosters a secure and caring environment for your children.
Most volunteers will only need to complete 2 clearances, a background check called Criminal History Record Check from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and the Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services. Both of these clearances are free for Volunteers and are valid for 60 months.
Additionally, you will need to determine if you need the FBI clearance. If you have lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years consecutively then you do not need the FBI Clearance, simply print the Disclosure Statement and sign it in witness of an Executive Board member. However, if you haven’t lived in Pennsylvania for at least the past 10 years consecutively, or you have lived in any other state for any amount of time during the last 10 years, then you will also need to complete the FBI Fingerprint Clearance through Identogo.

- Child Abuse History Clearance: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification
- Have you been a resident of PA for the past 10 consecutive years?
- if Yes -> sign the Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers (must be signed in witness of the RJV Board Secretary or other Executive Officer)
- if No -> complete the FBI Fingerprint Clearance by going to Identogo and clicking on Digital Fingerprinting and follow the instructions (contact us if it requires a code)
